Surgery For Stretch Marks - Is It Worth It?
65Are you looking into surgery for stretch marks? As crazy as it may seem to go under the knife for this, many people do it, because stretch marks are just so unsightly and sap so much of your confidence away, it’s well worth it at times to just get it handled professionally in this way.
Of course you should first try and remedy the situation with more natural solutions like emu oil and cocoa butter. If you haven’t tried that, please go ahead and look into trying that now. However, if you have tried it without much success, I’ll go over with you what your options are when it comes to using surgery for stretch marks.
Option #1: Straight Up Surgical Removal
I’m going to start with the most intrusive surgery for stretch marks. If you really want those stretch marks gone, one sure fire way of doing it is to just cut them out. This is often considered as a means of treatment for those who have an extreme case of the marks on their body. It is often only used when it’s not only stretch marks that is the problem, but also saggy skin due to a prior pregnancy.
What happens here is that an incision is made right at the pubic region and the excess skin with stretch mark scars on it is pulled down. The excess scarred skin is then cut out, while a new belly button hole is made in your skin and you are sutchered back up.
This leaves you with a noticeable line down below, but if your case of stretch marks was really bad, this might be the best option to consider.
Option #2: Chemical Peels
Now if you found that was a bit excessive, you might want to go in for a chemical peel instead. A chemical peel is just that, chemicals used to peel off the top layer of your skin. The chemicals are placed on your skin to allow that top layer to slough off which then reveals the more healthy, better textured, fresh skin beneath it.
This treatment is not going to permanently improve the appearance of your stretch mark scars though, you will need to go in for follow up treatments to keep your results.
Option #3: Laser Stretch Mark Removal
Ok, here is one surgery for stretch marks that many consider, the laser. What happens here is that a laser which is known as the “excimer” laser is applied to the damaged skin tissue where it then proceeds to break down the tissue even further. By doing this, it forces it to heal back with a bit more collagen and thus fill up the gap a bit better.
This treatment will require many visits, 10 or more, in order for you to diminish the appearance of your stretch marks by a good 20-50%.
If all else fails, you do have many more conventional treatments you can try either in the stores or off of the Net.
