Stretch mark removal surgery is quite a significant step to take in your quest to rid yourself of these dreaded marks, although I’m not surprised you’re considering taking such action given how damaging these marks can be to your psyche.

I myself have suffered from stretch marks, I first got them when I was growing up in my teenage years, it was due to a growth spurt, it left my upper thighs and buttocks area with some silvery white lines.  I remember being so confused by these and wondering what they were all about, I just thought they were normal.

I then went about my regular life until I started getting them over other areas of my body due to working out and lifting weights.  It was at that point that I realized that something had to be done, and even I was considering stretch mark removal surgery as a plausible option.

So if you’re looking into stretch mark removal surgery, what are your options?  Well, let’s look at them one by one:

1.        Blue Light Therapy

This is one surgical option that isn’t widely known because it’s normally used for other things.  Blue light therapy’s most popular use is for getting rid of tattoos as well as other pigmentation issues such as varicose veins, freckles or rosacea.

The thing is, this same technology can be used to visibly reduce the appearance of stretch marks. What happens when you go for this treatment is a conductive gel is placed on the area to be “zapped”, then the laser itself which is in a hand held device is held on top of the gel. When it is turned on, the device emits bursts of blue light which work to clear the zapped area of pigmentation and in the case of stretch marks, it will work to blend the stretch mark in better with the surrounding skin.

2. Laser Therapy

Now this is more of the conventional stretch mark removal surgery, via laser light therapy. What happens here is a beam of light is again emitted, this time from a “Excimer” laser device which then burns the affected area. This is a bit more harsh than the former treatment, what happens is stretch mark scar tissue is attacked to the point that it will need to re-heal itself, the idea is that when it does, it will do so with more collagen and thus better conceal the gap In your skin.

Now this is somewhat of an expensive treatment at $200 a pop, especially considering you’re going to have to go in for at least 10 sessions in most cases to see some substantial results. If you do go for this though, you can expect to see a reduction of at least 20-50%.

Now before you go in for stretch mark removal surgery, I would strongly advise you to check out less invasive methods such as the creams, lotions and oils that are available. Check around the Internet and you should find plenty of these treatments that will be less of a strain on your pocket book and less intrusive as well.
