Do you want to stop insomnia from taking over and controlling your life?  Insomnia can become a condition which holds you captive very easily, it controls one of the most vital functions that our body needs to sustain itself, sleep.  By essentially holding us hostage and denying us this basic human need, we are at it’s mercy.

You may feel like you are helpless in the battle against this disorder, however there are plenty of solutions and there is a good chance at least one of them will work out for you and make falling asleep much more easier for you each night.

There are many different solutions you can find out there on the Internet, but if you haven’t found anything as of yet, stay tuned, perhaps the following will work:

1.        Your Bed Is Only Good For One Thing

If you want to stop insomnia, you need to make sure you’re only using your bed for one and one thing only, sleeping and, well, maybe one other thing!  But you absolutely do not want to be sitting in bed watching TV or completing crossword puzzles or even reading.  This will train your body into thinking that this location is not only for sleep and thus it will be harder to fall asleep when you are in your bed.

2. Have a Warm Milk or Tea Before Bed

This is a great little tip to help stop insomnia. Try drinking some warm milk or warm chamomile/fennel tea right before bedtime. What the tea or milk will do is to soothe your central nervous system. Once you’ve been able to calm this down, you will be that much more primed for sleep. You will be less prone to anxiety and more relaxed.

3. Reverse Psychology

Here’s an odd one you probably haven’t heard anywhere else. As crazy as this sounds, it really helps to stop insomnia dead in it’s tracks. All you have to do is imagine that it’s not bed time but rather morning and that you just got out of bed and it’s now time for work! Ah, don’t you love that feeling? It’s the feeling of not having had enough sleep and feeling tired and miserable!

It’s at times like this where the last thing you want to do is stay up and the most desired thing for you is to fall right back to sleep. Take advantage of this mentality and trick yourself into thinking that it’s morning and you need to get a move on and you’ll find it that much easier to stay in bed and fall asleep instead.

Now if none of the above help you to stop insomnia, make sure you see your local doctor, he or she may be able to prescribe something for you that will work better than the above treatments.
