Nordic Track Treadmill - Are Nordic Tracks Worth Buying?

One of the most popular brands of treadmill is the Nordic Track Treadmill, it’s made by the company Icon Fitness which by the way is the largest treadmill manufacturer in the world.  They’re responsible for creating other models as well such as the ProForm, Reebok and Epic treadmills.

Now if you’re looking into a Nordic Track Treadmill, one of the advantages this treadmill will have over others is that most come with many features you just don’t find anywhere else.  Granted, this is going to depend on the cost of the unit you buy and which features that unit comes with, however if you spend at least a moderate amount, like $500, you will at least be able to get the iFIT functionality.

What is the iFIT system?  Well, it’s something that would seriously enhance your workout experience if you got a treadmill that supports it.  Basically what happens is you use these iFIT “chips” which contain workouts programmed into them.  You plug the chip into the machine and it has an 8-week program built into it that you can follow. 

When you’re on your iFIT compatible Nordic Track Treadmill, what will happen is you will be taken through a pre-programmed workout through an audio recording of a fitness trainer.  The machine will automatically change in intensity and resistance according to the program and you will receive motivation and encouragement through the audio to keep up!  It’s the closest thing to getting your own personal trainer who will push you and ensure that you lose weight.

Now you do have the option to override the changes in the difficulty of the workout if you find it too much, however it’s best you not do that as when you push your limits, that’s where all the pounds are lost. 

Another great feature of many a Nordic Track Treadmill is that some of the models come with a built in TV, how cool is that?  The TV is probably going to be about 7”, however with that you’ll be able to watch your favorite sitcoms on TV while you get in your workout.  Of course the other option is to set up your machine next to your larger TV unit on the floor, but if you cannot do that for whatever reason, this is a cool little feature.

There is also a nifty feature in some units which is known as the “Reflex Deck” or “Adjustable Cushion”.  Basically, you can change the level of absorption of the running surface to absorb more of the impact while running.   If you want more shock absorption because you have issues with your knees, this can be a useful feature, it also makes running a lot more comfortable.

Whichever Nordic Track Treadmill you go for, be sure to look for the above features, especially the iFIT, it will enhance your whole workout experience.
