Icon Treadmill - Is It Worth Picking Up?

Looking into an Icon Treadmill? When you’re out searching for a good treadmill, one of the first things you’ll want to consider is the brand of treadmill you’re buying. You don’t want to go with a treadmill manufacturer that is known for producing low end quality treadmills, cutting corners is never a good idea with high end equipment like treadmills. It’s best to go for quality as this is likely going to be something that stays in your house for at least a good 5 years.

An Icon Treadmill is manufactured by the ICON health and fitness company which is the largest producer of fitness equipment, you’ll be in good hands if you pick one of these machines up. There are various forms of ICON treadmills though such as Nordic Track, Proform, Healthrider, Weslo, Epic and Image.

One of the reasons why Icon Treadmills are so popular is because they tend to put a lot of unique features on their treadmills that you don’t really find anywhere else. Here are a few features you may expect from them:

1. Built-in TV’s

Some of the higher end models come with built in TVs that are usually around 7”. This is a great feature which really adds to the overall workout experience. Rather than just running and listening to music, you can plug in and watch your favorite sitcom while you jog.

2. Carb Counters/Fitness Journals

Who would have thought you could have a fitness journal inside of a treadmill? That’s one of the reasons why it’s good to go with an Icon Treadmill, they really try to make it an all-in-one weight loss solution.

3. iFIT

This is perhaps one of the coolest features available. What you can do is download workouts from the Internet to your treadmill and then load them up and run through them on your iFIT compatable treadmill. These workouts are available on what are called “iFIT cards”, you can get iFIT cards with training from popular trainers such as Jillian Michaels from the Biggest Loser, she is one of the toughest trainers around.

When you run through the program, you’ll be following along to the audio so it will be as If you’ve got your own personal trainer pushing you through the workouts, this is all part of the fun and helps get you more engaged in your weight loss regimen.

Now one of the best things about an Icon Treadmill is despite the fact that you can get all sorts of cool features, most of them are quite affordable. Of course at the same time, you do get what you pay for, however one of the most fun features, the iFIT is something you can get in even the cheaper treadmills.

If you’re not sure which Icon Treadmill to go with, I would suggest the Nordic Track series of treadmills. Stay away from the Image and Weslo treadmills on a whole though as there are some iffy units there.
