Are you wondering how to cure insomnia? There’s nothing worse than going to work and having a stressful day and then not even being able to escape, relax and recharge through sleep. It’s something most people take for granted, but when you don’t get enough of it on a continual basis, daily life can become a real pain.

It’s for this reason that so many people with sleeping disorders are so desperate to find a way how to cure insomnia. The good news is there is no shortage of things to try. One of the first of course is to visit your local doctor and see what he suggests. He’ll likely prescribe you some medications to help you fall asleep and if that works out for you great! However if you’re looking for some alternative insomnia solutions, here are some to try out:

1. Visualization

This is an interesting way how to cure insomnia, but surprisingly it does work. Simply lie in your bed, close your eyes and visualize yourself in a relaxing environment. Perhaps you may see yourself laying in a hammock on a sunny beach in the tropics with a pina colada in hand, looking out at the ocean and listening to the waves gently breaking up as they near the shore.

See yourself there in this location, and involve all of your senses to see, hear, feel and even smell what all is going on around you. You’ll find this alone will work to put you in a more relaxed state where it’s easier to drift off to sleep.

2. Shut Off Your Senses

What I mean by this is use ear plugs and a sleeping mask to keep external stimulus to an absolute minimum. What I like to do is buy foam ear plugs, squish those up and insert them, then put on a sleeping mask so there is no chance for me to be disturbed throughout the night. I then do the above visualization technique and it works wonders, especially after doing the following 2 tips…

3.     Drink Warm Milk/Tea

Another way how to cure insomnia is to drink some warm tea or milk right before bedtime, this will help to relax your central nervous system, reduce your anxiety and stress and thus make it easier for you to get comfortable and ready for bed.

4.     Take a Relaxing Bath

If you’re looking for a way how to cure insomnia, this is one of the most potent of the insomnia solutions.  Try taking a bath at the same time as you are drinking the warm milk or tea mentioned above.  What you want to do is draw a nice hot or warm bath that you can soak in and relax in for about 20-30 minutes.  Add more hot water If it starts to get cold.  If you want, you can even add incense or scented candles to enhance the effect.
