Interested in curing insomnia? Most people think insomnia is simply not being able to fall asleep however this is not the only possibility. You may also have problems remaining asleep or you may wake up too early from your sleep or wake up from your sleep feeling ill-rested despite sleeping a good 8 hours.

Any one of these situations falls under the umbrella of insomnia, this is a serious condition which affects many people young and old but if you’re looking for a solution, there are thankfully many to try out, lets go over some of the most basic ways of curing insomnia:

1. Don’t Eat A Heavy Dinner

One way of ensuring you get a better nights sleep is to stop eating large dinners right before bed time. When you eat a massive dinner, your body has to divert energy towards digesting this food and for some reason this can result in you not being able to fall asleep. The best way of curing insomnia if this is the culprit is to eat several smaller meals throughout the day, it’s healthier anyways.

Try eating 5-6 smaller meals instead of the regular 3 large meals. Space the meals out 3 hours apart, this will not only help increase your metabolism and lose weight, but It will also mean you don’t have as large a meal at the end of the day.

2. Make Your Bed Comfy

This goes without saying, you want your bed to be as comfortable as possible if curing insomnia is of importance to you. Get yourself some nice soft pillows and a soft comfortable mattress that you feel would be comfortable for your body. There are even specialized beds made for getting a better nights sleep, you might want to look into those as well.

3. Read A Book

Some people find this to be a relaxing past time, I suppose it depends on what exactly you are reading. However, if you can find the right book that gets you in the right mood, this can help you drift off to sleep. It’s not only a way of curing insomnia, but it’s also a great way to learn something new or to slip in an enjoyable fiction novel.

4. Make a To-Do List

This is a unique way of curing insomnia but it may work for some. If you find you are not getting a good nights sleep because you are constantly worried about what you’re going to have to do tomorrow, try spending the night before coming up with a schedule or a to-do list.

List off all the things you plan on doing and in what time frame you expect to get it all done by, this will help structure your days better, reduce anxiety and thus help you fall asleep.
